Montgomery County students display t-shirt memorial for gun violence victims

The students say in just a few months, 258 teens have lost their lives to some form of gun violence. They put up the memorial to honor those students.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — POTOMAC, Md. -- Students at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac are sending a strong message with a t-shirt memorial. Monday morning they displayed more than 200 shirts with the names of teens killed by gun violence in 2018.

The students say in just a few months, 258 teens have lost their lives to some form of gun violence. They put up the memorial to honor those students.

The shirts line the fence along the school's football field. The memorial was first on display at Chevy Chase Bethesda High School. Monday morning it was moved to Winston Churchill. It will continue to rotate to other schools until it has been on display at every high school in the county.

Student organizers say they want to send the message that some sort of change needs to come before this happens again.
