GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Officials have arrested and charged a man who tried to hire someone to kill his ex-wife, police said.

Ndokey Peter Enow, 37, has been charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder. On June 4, Enow attempted to hire someone to kill his ex-wife. He had offered a person $1,000 to kill her. He had also given the person her address and photographs, police said.

An undercover Montgomery County Police officer posed as a "hitman" on June 6 and met with Enow after which he gave the officer partial payment. He was then arrested shortly after the meeting, police said.

Enow did confess to the crime and is being held without bond, police said.

Enow's ex-wife, the victim was unharmed during the investigation, police said.
