Six people have been injured, at least one critically, after a violent crash on Indian Head Highway early Friday morning. Indian Head Highway has now reopened in both directions.
According to Officer Tyler Hunter, spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department, a car and a pick-up truck collided on Indian Head Highway at Palmer Road around 1:40 a.m. Prince George's County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to treat six victims. All were transported with various injuries and at least one victim was flown to an area hospital in critical condition.
Officer Hunter says only the driver was in the car and five people were in the truck.
An accident reconstruction team was on the scene trying to determine what caused the collision.
The majority of the wreckage was in the southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway, however both directions were shut down. Maryland State Highways Administration had crews on scene to help direct traffic around the crash.
