Larry Donnell Harris, Sr. was born July 15, 1951 in Margarettsville, North Carolina to the late Geraldine Bottoms, and Willie G. Carter. He attended secondary and post-secondary schools in Northampton County North Carolina, and graduated from Gumberry High School, in June 1970 where he served as class president. After high school, he joined the US Air Force, and served stateside in Orlando, FL and abroad in Aviano, Italy.

Larry attended St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA where he earned a B.S. degree in Accounting, graduating May 1979. He has been employed as an Accountant for thirty-five years with various government contractors in the Northern Virginia, DC area.

He has been married to his wife Gloria for 34 years, and they have two adult sons, (Larry “Donnell” and Garrett). They are the proud grandparents of one grandson (Brian, 9), to whom he is referred to fondly as “Papa” and one granddaughter, Alainna Nicole, born February 15, 2016.

Larry was baptized at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Northampton County, North Carolina at the age of ten, but does not believe that he was truly redeemed until he professed Christ as Lord and joined Oakland Baptist Church in 2004.

Larry enjoys working with children and volunteering wherever he can. He is an extrovert by nature, and loves laughing and having fun. He has the heart of a servant, and can be found working and giving freely of the time and resources that God has given him, with a glad heart.
