A woman and two children are being evaluated for injuries after a car hit a tree in Waldorf, Md. Friday night.

The crash happened on Crain Highway around 5:40 p.m. Police say a mother and her two children were involved in the crash. The children will be OK. The mother's condition is unknown at this time.

Police say Akeema James veered off the roadway and struck a curb before going airborne and striking a tree on the driver’s side. Perry was trapped in the car and was extricated by fire department personnel.

Police say her two children, ages 4 and 6, were also in the car during the crash.

Speed and driver error are believed to be the causes of the crash. Police do not believe Alcohol was a factor.
