Local high school musical honors the legacy of Michael Jackson

The King of Pop is being remembered for his artistry and iconic dance moves through a musical at Charles Herbert Flowers High School.

SPRINGDALE, Md. (WUSA9) — A local high school musical honors the legacy of Michael Jackson and you have only a couple more days to see it.

The King of Pop is being remembered for his artistry and iconic dance moves through a musical at Charles Herbert Flowers High School, located in the 10000 block of Ardwick Ardmore Rd.

It’s called, “Can You Feel It: Michael Jackson the Musical” and members of the community have been pouring into the school’s auditorium to see it. Tickets are still available for the last two shows next weekend.

“His music is so inspiring and he gives great messages,” said Shanelle Ingram, the musical’s director, who explained how the idea came up. “It was just something wonderful that we needed to do.”

Students have been practicing since September. Cayla Hall and Kayla Earl are in the show and tell WUSA9 they have worked really hard to master the moves.

“We looked at videos with great help from our Choreographer Ms. Angelisa Gillyard,” said Kayla Earl. “We did a lot of different things to help bring the cast together.”

“It wasn’t just learning them and practicing the moves,” Cayla Hall explained. “We had to go home, FaceTime each other and ask ‘do we have this down?’"

Tickets for Thursday’s show are sold out, but there are still tickets available for shows on Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th.

Doors open at 6p.m. The show starts at 7p.m.

Admission is $10. VIP tickets are $15.You can purchase them at the door or during school hours between 8a.m. and 3p.m.
