For more than 10 years, Metro employed the gunman who authorities said shot and killed a decorated Prince George's County Police Corporal.
A spokesperson for the regional transit system confirmed the details Thursday morning.
Metro hired 37-year-old Glenn Tyndell in 2007, with no disciplinary issues immediately apparent on his personnel record. Police fatally shot Tyndell Wednesday, after the Brandywine man killed his neighbor, 51-year-old Prince George's Police Corporal Mujahid Ramzziddin.
Tyndell's files have been turned over to Prince George's authorities, after an extensive record of domestic abuse emerged hours after Wednesday's shooting.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is also working with local authorities to determine how Tyndell obtained at least one firearm, with a protective order filed against him as recently as June 2017.
Cpl. Ramzziddin was fatally shot Wednesday morning, after he stepped in to protect his neighbor - a woman threatened by Tyndell with a shotgun.
Tyndell worked out of a Metro rail facility in Shady Grove continuously since 2007, a WMATA spokesperson said Thursday. Tyndell was employed as an HVAC repair technician for train cars.
