A woman was found dead after a house fire in Prince George’s County, Md. Sunday morning, the victim's friends tell WUSA9's Stephanie Ramirez.

Around 9 a.m., fire crews were alerted to a house fire in the 5900 block of Crown Street in Capitol Heights when they received a call from a neighbor.

The caller told firefighters they believed a person was still inside.

As one crew prepared to put out the fire, another crew searched the home and found a female body near the back of the residence.

Two close friends, who say they were more like sisters, identified the victim in the fire as 58-year-old Lisa Herring.

Isyna Sinclair cried as she explained they had all just been together at a party for Sinclair's son the night before.

Betty Mills tells WUSA9 she offered for Herring to stay on her couch since they had been drinking, but says Herring went back to her home just across the street.

Mills, who was also in tears, tells WUSA9 at around 9 a.m. her son ran to her saying Herring's home was on fire. Mills says her son tried repeatedly to kick down the door.

Both women described Herring as a positive and loving person who took care of her sick mother.

According to her friends, she has two sons who live out of state and are now on their way to Maryland.

The cause is under investigation and damages are being estimated.

No firefighter injuries have been reported.
