PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Dr. Monica Goldson has been officially named the Chief Executive Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools in a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
She has been acting as the interim chief. Dr. Goldson has also served as Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
She has spent her entire 27-year career in Prince George's County and is a product of the school system.
According to the Prince George's County Public School website, Dr. Goldson believes in creating experiences that propel students to their highest levels of excellence.
As she spoke about leading the school district and guiding students to success, she became very emotional.
Dr. Goldson said this is a historic moment as she is the first Prince George's native to lead.
