One person is dead and two more have been injured in a violent crash on Suitland Parkway late Monday night.

According to Sgt. David Schlosser, spokesman for the United States Park Police, two vehicles collided on Suitland Parkway near Branch Ave. around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Once officers arrived on scene they found one person had succumbed to their injuries. Two more victims were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

So far USPP are not releasing any details on the victims, pending notification of next of kin.

Suitland Parkway was shut down between Naylor Rd. and Silver Hill Rd. overnight while an accident reconstruction team investigated the incident.

All lanes reopened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
