MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Manassas City Police arrested a 36-year-old man for hitting a man in the face twice after a road rage incident that happened at Hastings Marketplace Shopping Center in Manassas.

Police said they responded to the report of an assault that happened at the shopping center. According to authorities, two men were involved in a road rage incident that escalated at the intersection of Liberia Ave and Euclid Ave.

Police said the suspect, Joseph E. Pullen, 36, of Warrenton, Va. got out of his car and started a verbal confrontation with the victim. Pullen hit a 51-year-old man from Nokesville, Va. in the face twice before the victim was able to get out of his car.

Authorities said the victim had minor injuries. The suspect was charged with assault and battery and is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Pullen's court date is scheduled for June 24, 2014.
