OLNEY, Md. (WUSA9) -- An investigation is underway after a man is accused of pouring water on two men at a bar in Olney and making derogatory remarks to them in regards to their sexual orientation.

The assault happened at the Green Turtle bar and restaurant located at 18101 Town Center Drive around 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Montgomery County police said.

According to authorities a group of four people were at the bar and a larger group of people were sitting at the other end.

When the larger group was getting ready to leave, one of the men from the group took a glass of water and poured it on two men with the group of four.

Witnesses told police that the man addressed the victims in a derogatory way in regard to their sexual orientation. The suspect allegedly challenged them to fight.

Police said both groups of people left the restaurant and got into a fight in the parking lot.

Two males were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe they have identified the man who poured the water on the victims.

The incident remains under investigation.
