FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- Police arrested a man Wednesday in Frederick, Md. for strangling, threatening and raping a victim, after breaking into the victim's home on February 26.

Frederick police said around 7 p.m. deputies responded to the Frederick Memorial Hospital for a rape allegation. Detectives learned the woman was raped inside her apartment by an acquaintance.

Police said Dario Jonathan Matson, 25, strangled, and threatened the woman with a knife, after breaking into her apartment. She was hurt and had bite marks, cuts and other minor injuries, authorities said.

Matson stole several items from her home, police said. Detectives were able to determine things were stolen during their investigation. Police said, a DNA search warrant was granted on March 4 for Matson.

Matson was arrested by the Frederick Police Department and taken to the Criminal Investigation Division office for questioning and then taken to Frederick County Adult Detention Center, police said.

According to deputies, Matson and the woman did not know each other well. However, according to the investigation, the two had lived in the same apartment building previously.

Matson has been charged with first degree rape,second degree rape, first degree sex offense, second degree sex offense, first degree assault and robbery.
