WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A flight from Ronald Reagan National Airport to Atlanta had to make an emergency landing at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee after it experienced a generator problem while in flight, officials said.

The AirTran Airways flight number 949 landed safely in Milwaukee at 4:25 p.m.. The Boeing 717 plane was carrying 61 passengers on board. Officials said the plane had three generators and one of them was experiencing a problem.

No passengers reported noticing the issue.

The plane was taken out of service and is being checked. Another plane was then used to complete the flight to Atlanta, officials said.
