DMV Soundcheck - Kimise Lee

Kimise Lee, Singer/ Songwriter and Producer/Manager

Kimise Lee, a local Washington DC “Songbird”, is known for her passionate vocals in Jazz, R&B and inspirational music. As a female solo artist, Kimise’s vocal talents have been inspired by her Christian background, when she started singing in church at the early age of six. Now, Kimise values her Christian upbringing as she is currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. There, she ministers songs at several Christian Events from Church services, Women’s Conferences, Retreats and Couples Events. This allows Kimise to “Be a blessing to as many souls as possible through songs”. In addition, she has sang backup for Gospel greats such as Yolanda Adams, and Marvin Sapp. Aside from being a singer and songwriter, Kimise was the executive producer of a 2012 release by writing and producing eight songs. Her beautiful singing talent allows her to range from singing studio background vocals for other Gospel greats like Seven Songs of Soul, and Bryan Wilson, to covering several genres of music from Jazz, R&B, Gospel, GoGo, and Hip Hop. Kimise has triumphed over many obstacles, the biggest was losing her Mom. She was able to translate the pain and energy of feeling hurt and deprived and turn it into inspiration to move onward and upward. As a result, she lives by the phrase that “Nothing worth having comes easy", which fuels her ability to manage her own all-female band. This Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts Graduate captures any audience through her soulful singing!
