White House gift shop discounts North Korean nuclear summit commemorative items

The summit was canceled Thursday morning after President Trump cited "tremendous anger and open hostility" from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

If you were looking to commemorate the would-be North Korean nuclear summit, you’re in luck. The White House gift shop is offering a sale on its commemorative items after the summit was canceled by President Trump on Thursday.

The White House shop still displays two items in honor of the summit: an ornament and a medallion.

However, the website had been on-and-off displaying error messages when either item is selected throughout Thursday afternoon.

The limited-edition ornament, listed as the White House’s “most sophisticated design” is set to ship on August 7, after the summit was scheduled to take place, and has been reduced from its regular price of $85 to the “deal of the day,” which is $59.

The theme of the ornament is “Coming Closer to Peace and Celebrates the Act of Communication Among Countries,” according to the website.

Meanwhile, the medallion, which says in its description that “harmony is the unifying design theme,” needs a 2 month ship time. It has also been reduced from its regular price of $24.95 to $19.95.

According to the descriptions of the items, customers can ask for a refund if the summit does not take place. However, despite that offering, the descriptions for both items assert that, “Most Customers Have Said They Want This Heirloom of Political History Regardless of Outcome.”

The summit was canceled Thursday morning after President Trump cited "tremendous anger and open hostility” from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The White House released a statement to Un on Thursday, thanking the leader for the return of American hostages, stating the reasons for the cancellation of the meeting, and asking for further dialogue on the matter.
