WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A man who was killed after a police-involved shooting Thursday afternoon in Northeast D.C. has been identified.
According to police, Darick Napper, 34, was shot after he charged at a sixth-district officer with a large hunting knife. The officer fired once at Napper and hit him.
Napper was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Napper was high on PCP at the time of the shooting, D.C. police sources told WUSA9.
The officer was not hurt in the incident, sources said.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m. in the 5300 block of Dix Street. In August, a D.C. police officer shot a woman who was reportedly on PCP in the same area. A 29-year-old man was also shot and killed in this neighborhood last week.
