A man was found with his hands tied behind his back in a D.C. apartment fire Monday evening, D.C. police said.

The fire happened just before 7 p.m. at 4560 3rd Street in Southeast, D.C. Crews responding to the fire found the victim lying on the floor of the apartment suffering from injuries to his face and his hands tied behind his back.

Police said the man was taken to a local hospital. He is in critical condition and suffering from apparent smoke inhalation and facial injuries.
