The Westin Hotel near Thomas Circle Park was evacuated for a fire, D.C. Fire and EMS reported Saturday night.

The fire started in a kitchen on the first floor and traveled up through the building’s ductwork. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was showing on the roof.

The fire appears to be confined to the duct system, fire officials said.

No one was hurt and guests and hotel employees were allowed back into the building about an hour after being evacuated.

The Westin Hotel is located at 1400 M Street Northwest, just off Massachusetts Avenue.
