Cherry blossom peak bloom pushed back again till April 8

The peak bloom for the cherry blossoms has been pushed back again due to continued cold weather.

UPDATE: They're halfway there! The National Park Service posted on Monday that the blossoms have reached the third stage of six towards peak bloom. Right now, they're in "florets extended." Next stage? Peduncle elongation.

With temperatures warming, NPS says, "those pink and white blossoms can't be too far behind!"

ORIGINAL STORY: The peak bloom for the cherry blossoms has been pushed back again due to continued cold weather, according to the National Mall Park Service.

With no warmup on the horizon, peak bloom is now being forecasted for April 8-12.
