Police have made an arrest in the shooting of 1-year-old in D.C.

The shooting happened in the 1300 block of I Street in Northeast, D.C. around 9 p.m. on July 10. Jeremiah White was hit with at least one bullet in the back of the leg and had to undergo surgery at Children’s Hospital.

The toddler has since been released from the hospital and is recovering with family.

Family members said the gunfire came out of nowhere.

Derrick Damon Watson, 39, of Northeast DC, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon on July 18.

Police are also looking for a second suspect in this case. 27-year-old Saheed Aluwatoyin Washington Sulu of Southeast, DC.
