Police have made an arrest Monday in the death of 14-year-old Steven Slaughter.

On Sunday January 14, the Friendship Collegiate High School 9th grader was walking home from a store with friends when he was shot in what police believe was an attempted robbery near a church on Minnesota Avenue.

Slaughter was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Monday, 21-year-old Anthony Deandre Allen was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Police said Slaughter was shot with an illegal gun after an attempted armed robbery.

Detectives tracked down a vehicle of interest and found the murder weapon with evidence that led them to the suspect.

Slaughter’s mother told WUSA9 in January that her son stayed out of trouble.

“He always wanted to be perfect. That’s what type of kid he was. He wanted to be perfect in life. And now we’ve got to bury a child,” Pharr said.
