One person is dead and three others are injured after a fiery four-vehicle crash on New York Ave. in northeast D.C.
Members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Unit are on scene investigating the crash, which occurred on New York Ave./Rt. 50 at South Dakota Ave NE around 3:10 a.m.
Three of the four vehicles involved caught fire. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was trapped and had to be extricated by D.C. firefighters. That person has been transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. A third victim was also transported with non-life-threatening injuries. The fourth victim was treated on scene.
According to a D.C. Fire & EMS Tweet, all fire has been extinguished.
New York Avenue/Rt. 50 was shut down while police conduct their investigation. It reopened around 7:45 a.m.
