Three DC college students were named to a list of inspiring college women.

Her Campus, a women’s media organization, named 22 young women to their “22 Under 22 Most Inspiring College Women” list, including two students at George Washington University and one at American University.

Maria Rose Belding, an American University student, was named for her commitment to ending hunger across the U.S. Belding created the database MEANS which connects food shelters across the country in order to reduce food waste. Jazmin Kay, a student from George Washington University, was recognized for her advocacy and writing. She’d previously interned at the White House and currently serves as president of her school’s College Democrats chapter. Jen Rubino, another George Washington student, was also named. After being diagnosed with a rare connective tissue and bone disease, Rubino founded the charity Cards for Hospitalized Kids, which delivers cheerful cards to children in the hospital.

Winners were selected for their leadership, academic achievement, and passion.
