24 million Americans over the age of 40 are affected by cataracts. It's the leading cause of vision loss.

During this Cataract Awareness month, the message is “it's not just an older persons concern.” Cataracts can also affect young adults or even children. While there's no proven way to prevent age-related cataracts, choosing a healthy lifestyle can slow its progression.

Results of a landmark breast cancer clinical trial show that the drug Xeloda can extend the lives of some women whose breast cancer is not wiped out by standard treatment. The pill is easy to take and is much less toxic than standard chemotherapy. In the study, the drug which is already approved, cut patients' risk of relapse or death by 30 percent over five years.

Sunday is National Cancer Survivors Day. It's a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families, and an outreach to the community.
