WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Rocking the stage while raising awareness about cancers below-the-belt.

Six gynecologic surgeons join together to form a rock band called N.E.D., No Evidence of Disease. They are dedicated to informing women about ovarian, cervical, and other GYN cancers. These diseases affect more than 90,000 women every year and one third of them die from the illness.

Andrea Kalin of Spark Media is the director of a new documentary called No Evidence of Disease. The movie follows the surgeons/band members as they work to make a difference inside hospital and raise awareness in our communities.

Kalin says, "They were tired and actually outraged by the quiet, the silence, that people just don't talk about these diseases that's below the belt and they thought 'let's do something out of the box." The real emotional core of the story are the patients."

Kalin and one of the band members are hosting a free event this weekend called "In the Know About Women's Cancers". It will include a movie showing followed by a Q & A with a panel of women health experts.
