Fairfax Co. Public Schools selects superintendent finalist

The Fairfax County School Board has selected Dr. Scott Brabrand as the finalist for the position of Superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), pending final board approval at a meeting June 8, according to a news release from Fairfax County Public Schools.

The Fairfax County School Board has selected Dr. Scott Brabrand as the finalist for the position of Superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), pending final board approval at a meeting June 8, according to a news release from Fairfax County Public Schools.

Brabrand is currently the Superintendent of Lynchburg City Schools in Lynchburg, Virginia. Brabrand has worked at FCPS in roles including Assistant Superintendent, principal of Fairfax High School, assistant principal, associate principal and teacher.

School Board Chair Sandy Evans said Dr. Brabrand brings a tangible passion for education and for FCPS.

“Dr. Brabrand’s deep knowledge and understanding of FCPS, coupled with his creative leadership abilities, will ensure FCPS’ continued excellence serving our students, our schools, and our community.”

Brabrand was selected as a finalist after a nationwide search of candidates, according to the release.

Following Board approval, Brabrand will begin a four-year term on July 10.

“I look forward to harnessing that enthusiasm to continue achieving the high standards set for ourselves.” Brabrand said.
