Okay, I know it isn't New Year's Eve for another day, but Andrea and I will be hiking the Appalachian Trail tomorrow. So today, we give you our year-end gift. Enjoy! Here's to a spectacular 2016 for all of us! Happy New Year and we'll see you in January!

What a blast I had joining the Wake Up Washington team yesterday! When Andrea woke me up at 2am, I was raring to go! Andrea, not so much.

Greeted the morning crew with my trademark enthusiasm and settled in on the news set. I lay down on my beautiful Kay Schreiber patriotic blanket amidst a solid selection of toys. To Andrea's surprise, I did not sleep the first two hours. I entertained myself under the anchor desk and was, everyone agreed, a VERY good boy!

Meteorologist Allyson Rae invited me to help her with the forecast (which was humbling and flattering, because I'm really just a news dog). The funny thing was, because of the camera angle, all you could see on television was my yellow tail wagging—not the rest of my body!

Producer Liza Mayman even arranged a live segment in our 6pm newscast featuring me, Bunce! That allowed Andrea to talk about my important mission with Warrior Canine Connection and my future job as a service dog for a wounded warrior.

When I got Andrea home, she mumbled something about having a dream she'd just co-anchored a 2 1/2 hour newscast, fell into a fit of giggles and then was out cold for four hours. I joined her in this power nap and then took Andrea on one of our long walks.

The morning team is a real group of unsung heroes. They work all night long and get very little sleep. They work holidays and long shifts too, so next time you watch the news in the morning, think about the hard-working, creative, professional people behind it! I've posted a photo gallery of a few of them. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

By the time you read this post, Andrea and I will be co-anchoring Wake Up Washington with Mike Hydeck (who's a real pro). You can find us on Channel 9 (or live stream via wusa9.com).

One of us will be at the desk. One of us will be under the desk napping. At this hour, I can say with certainty it is unclear where Andrea and I will each be. If you have not guessed by now, she is an insomniac who does not like mornings. She is a night owl. I, Bunce, love all hours of the day.

In terms of my future warrior, Andrea wanted me to point out (although she has no say in the matter) that I like to snuggle. She and I thoroughly enjoy napping together and she will be the first to tell you that I, Bunce, must have complete body contact. Andrea says I am like a remora. If you snorkel or scuba dive, you probably know the remora, often called the suckerfish. Remoras have distinctive dorsal fins that feature slat-like structures that open and close to create suction. They're designed to take a firm hold against the skin of larger marine animals, but if you're snorkeling or diving, they may latch onto you.

This is why Andrea says I'm like a remora. No matter what her position is, I find away to contort my body to fit right next to her. I hope my warrior appreciates this, but Andrea says he or she will *love* it. Have a great Monday!
