Megan and Caitlin Murphy are the sisters who own Capital City Cheesecake, but are now taking on a new adventure at Takoma Park, MD by opening their brand new bakery, Capital City Confectionary. The ladies shared their grandmother's perfect sugar cookie recipe so you can make these cookies right at home.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 sticks of butter or 10oz (room temperature)
3/4 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon orange extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Directions:
Cream the butter and sugar together at medium speed. Once combined, add the egg and orange extract and mix until combined. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder. At low speed, slowly add your flour mixture. Once combined you can roll out the dough to your desired thickness, and refrigerate. After about two hours of refrigeration, you can begin to cut out your cookies. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool before you start decorating and enjoy!
