Downtown Holiday Market - through Dec. 23
You will find one of the most spectacular holiday markets in DC in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum & National Portrait Gallery. Every day 60 exhibitors showcase hundreds of diverse and ethnically produced goods like jewelry, pottery, paintings and textiles. A total of 150 vendors rotate so you will find new items every day. Plus, enjoy festive snacks and live music as you search for special gifts in the heart of DC. Time: noon- 8pm; Location: centered at 8th and F street (across from the Verizon Center).
Christkindlmarkt - through Dec. 22
The Heurich House Museum is hosting Dupont Circle's only holiday maker's market. The historic mansion's "main markts" were open Dec 1-3 but, you can still visit their "mini markts" for a themed-shopping experience for the next three Fridays' in December. Find home decor on the 8th, children's toys and clothes on the 15th and food and serving ware on the 22nd. Time: Friday, December 8, 15 and 22nd from 5 - 8pm; Location: 1307 New Hampshire Avenue NW; Admission: Children (ages 2-12) $2, Adults (ages 13+) $10.
Alexandria Holiday Market - through Dec. 23
This wonderful annual market in the Carlyle District is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Enjoy live entertainment, food and sweets, including hot Gluhwein wine and hot cocoa as you shop for unique art and other items. The atmosphere is also great for children! At the kids corner, children can learn more about European traditions and culture through fun activities like paint your own Christmas ornament! The market also highlights the Holiday Sharing Toy Drive Program sponsored by Volunteer Alexandria to support families in need. Winterfest at Wunder Garten - through Dec. 17
Winterfest may be one of the coolest holiday hotspots on this list. The Wunder Garten in NoMa has all the holiday essentials: twinkly lights (duh), s'mores around a fire, hot cocoa, a beer garden, a pop-up cafe AND a tree lot! Live music, fun DIY workshops and a photo shoot with Santa will also be available to visitors. Make sure to check out their website for a jam packed schedule full of events, including a "Night of 1000 Santas Dance Party" on Friday, December 15th. Time: Thursdays 4 - 8pm, Fridays - Sundays, noon to 8pm; Location: 1101 First Street NE.
116 King Holiday Pop-up - through Dec. 31
In the heart of Old Town Alexandria, 116 King pop-up boutique features over 30 upscale fashion and lifestyle brands for men, women and children, including brands from California and Texas. People who are into preppy fashion will love this! (I spotted an adorable v-neck cashmere sweater for men with a puppy on it on their Instagram). The shop is also hosting events throughout the month like barre3 classes, caroling and even a New Years Eve Masquerade Ball at Arlington's A-Town Bar & Grill (for $35, receive 3 drinks and immediate entry to the event).
