The 2021 NBA All-Star Game has been awarded to Indianapolis, hosted by the Indiana Pacers, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the decision hasn't been announced publicly.

The city also hosts the men's college basketball Final Four later that same year in April.

Indianapolis last hosted the NBA's All-Star Game in 1985.

The Pacers have scheduled a 4 p.m. ET "major event announcement" in which owner Herb Simon and NBA commissioner Adam Silver will be present.

The NBA announced last month that the Chicago Bulls would host the 2020 All-Star Game.

The league named Charlotte the host city of the 2019 All-Star Game.

This year's All-Star Game is being played at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
