After-school worker admits to touching girl, police say

An after-school program worker admitted to inappropriately touching a little girl, Montgomery Count Police said Thursday evening.

The 10-year-old told police she knew Roy Andres Simmons III, 41, through the “Kids Adventures” program at Carderock Springs Elementary School in Potomac, Md.

She said that sometime in November 2016 Simmons was leading a group activity, but separated her from the other students. While they were alone, she said he touched her inappropriately.

Simmons admitted to the act, police said. He’s charged with fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault.

Police are worried more children may be victims and are asking parents to talk with their children if they’ve ever encountered Simmons.

Detectives are requesting that parents of students who may have had contact with Simmons, to talk to their children about their interactions with him and contact SVID detectives at 240-773-5400 if they believe their child was victimized.
