"Hello my name is Andrea Lewis and I live in Alexandria, VA. My story starts a few months before my 50th birthday. I was diagnosed in April 2010 with stage 2-3 breast cancer. I had surgery, then chemotherapy and finally radiation. I finished my treatment by the middle of December 2010. Although I was tired and worn out, I was happy to be finished with it all. Ready for my life to be back to normal - unfortunately my life would never be the same...I was diagnosed again with breast cancer in October 2012...then in July 2014 I was diagnosed again, undergoing surgery, chemo and radiation. Once again February 2016...surgery and radiation followed. Then this year April 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer once again. I had surgery in June and am now going through chemo, but issues with my white/red blood cell count means there's no end date yet, plus I still have radiation to go through. Yes, I am going through my 5th round of breast cancer. There was a time I wanted to give up, there was no more fight in me. My kids, grandkids, family and friends wouldn't let me give up. I have the most amazing support system and my health care providers are the absolute best. None of them ever gave up on me so I had to put my game face on and get back to the battle. I now start my day with a prayer and a positive outlook. Even with my time between the battles getting smaller and smaller I still have family, friends and prayers. No matter what I go through I know who is on my side and who will be there for me. Thank you [Kristen Berset] for sharing your story, and allowing us, breast cancer survivors, to share ours."
