Halloween may not be until the end of the month, but the fun doesn't have to wait. Here's how to get the party started.

1.  Paint a pumpkin. Carving is a mess and rarely turns out as expected. American Plant offers free pumpkin painting every Saturday and Sunday afternoon in October. Take home a masterpiece created by your little one instead of making a mess in your kitchen.

2.  Create a fall centerpiece. Love arranging flowers? Take that skill and use it to make something more seasonal. Use a pumpkin as a vase, scoop out the insides, and fill it with succulents. A centerpiece that's also a conversation starter!

3.  Go to a haunted maze. Escape rooms are so last season. Check out the haunted mazes at American Plant that are also kid-friendly. One location has a Batman theme while the other is inspired by Beetlejuice.

4.  Treat your family to an outdoor movie. There's never a shortage of Halloween-themed programming on television the month of October. But an outdoor movie night at American Plant takes entertainment to the next level. Don't forget your blankets and hot chocolate!
