Date night destinations in DC for everyone
Are you getting tired of Netflix and chilling with your boo every weekend? Shake it up with these date night destinations.
If you don’t want the typical first coffee date, try going to the absolutely irresistible Pitango Gelato, with locations in Penn Quarter and Capitol Hill. If you feel some sparks, continue the date by going for a stroll (or cut the date short and dip after finishing your cup). If you’re at the Penn Quarter location, take a quick ride to Meridian Hill Park, where on Sundays you can feel the beat of the famous drum circle, a tradition for 40 years! If you’re in Capitol Hill, be sure to go to Eastern Market for fresh food, community events and handmade arts and crafts on the weekend. If you’re really hitting it off, learn how to tango on Thursday nights in the North Hall starting at 7pm.
Do you and your better half want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a night? Greenbelt Park is an urban oasis just outside the Beltway. It has 174 campsites where you can lay under the stars for just $20 a night. Pitch a tent, roast some marshmallows, and snuggle up at this hidden jewel of the National Park Service. It’s 16 miles out and you can also take the metro right to Greenbelt station!
A night at the museum
If you’re looking for something a little classier, head to ‘Phillips After 5’. Combining almost 3 dates in one – an art museum, live music performance, and booze – the event only happens on the first Thursday of each month making it all the more special. Definitely make reservations in advance online (just $12 per person) and bring cash for the bar! It’s always 5:30 to 8pm at the Phillips Collection, located in Dupont Circle.
