Meteorologist Allyson Rae joined the WUSA9 weather team in 2014. She joins us after spending four years in sunny Fort Myers, FL where she was the morning meteorologist at WZVN.
While in Florida, Allyson earned the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. The CBM is the highest level of distinction in the field of broadcast meteorology. Allyson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Penn State University.
She spent the first years of her career at KNOE in Monroe, Louisiana and WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama. In February 2008, Allyson and the weather team at WSFA tracked a devastating tornado outbreak across the state of Alabama. One tornado was an EF3 and destroyed hundreds of homes in the town of Prattville. Allyson is a Pittsburgh native and excited to move closer to home.
While she is not working, Allyson is an avid runner and loves to walk her dog, Ybor with her husband.
