ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- An 18-year-old man is now in custody for the near fatal stabbing of another teenager in Alexandria Tuesday evening.
According to Alexandria Police, Farouq Abdullahi of Alexandria has been charged with Malicious Wounding in the incident, which occurred outside an apartment complex in the 5400 block of N. Morgan Street around 6:00 p.m. Alexandria Police were called to the area after receiving reports of a fight. The responding officers found a victim suffering from a stab wound once they arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say there were no other injuries.
According to police, the victim was with a group of friends when there was an altercation between them and another group. During that altercation, the victim was stabbed.
The investigation is ongoing.
