WASHINGTON (WUSA 9) -- For breast cancer patients who receive chemotherapy, the thought of losing their hair is really devastating. But maybe going bald is no longer inevitable.
At Medstar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Md., patients are being offered a safe and effective system called cold cap therapy.
It uses super cold technology to prevent chemo from reaching hair follicles.
Cold Cap is only effective if started with that very first chemo session. Even with the device, there's still a 20% hair loss.
