WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- There are not a lot of up-sides to the government shutdown.
But Washington's most famous skateboarder has found one. At least for fans of his sport. Places that are normally off limits to skateboarding are attracting all kinds of riders right now -- because a lot of the people who enforce the rules are out on shutdown furlough.
WUSA9's Scott Broom joined renowned DC skater Darren Harper at Freedom Plaza this afternoon. You could definitely call it a skateboarding holiday right now during the furlough situation.
To skaters like Darren, who's famous nationwide, for his athletic moves -- and urban street cred -- Freedom plaza is mecca. Word is out about this, rather than been shutdown like their government, skaters say, they are finally free.
