WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Good news for anyone who is holding on to a winning DC Lottery ticket: The DC Lottery has resumed normal business operations.
You may remember that during the government shutdown D.C. lottery officials weren't making any large payouts for winning tickets. Earlier this week, one gas station owner cashed out some of his customers' prizes with money out of his own pocket, as long as their winning tickets were under $600. He told us he wasn't allowed to cash out any winnings over $600 and scratch off tickets.
One man came to the gas station after he found out he had won $2,500 in cash prizes. He was told, however, that he would have to wait until the government shutdown was over. He can now collect his prize.
DC Lottery officials say that winning tickets up to $600 may be redeemed at any DC Lottery retailer and winning tickets up to $5,000 may be redeemed at some Agent Plus locations. Additionally, any winning tickets can be redeemed at the DC Lottery Claim Center at 2000 14th Street, NW.
