WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police say a manhole exploded in Northwest DC.
According to officials, the explosion that took place at about 2:30 p.m. at 7th Street and F Street. DC Police and the fire department responded to the scene.
According to Pepco spokesperson Bob Hainey, when crews arrived the hole was no longer smoking and workers began investigating. No customers lost service due to the explosion.
Police said traffic was diverted for a very short period of time but when it was determined that there was no danger the streets were reopened.
