WHEATON, Md. (WUSA9) -- A pedestrian bridge at Westfield Wheaton Mall partially collapsed today.
The bridge collapse happened due to a a truck hitting the structure around 6:00 a.m. The hydraulic lift of the trash truck was not down and it struck the pedestrian bridge. A gray Nissan Altima then attempted to drive through the debris and had to be towed due to damage to the vehicle, officials said.
There were no injuries reported. No mall operations are affected by this incident. However, the road that circles around the parking on the side where the pedestrian bridge is, is currently closed to traffic.
The incident is under investigation.
