LANDOVER, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police have released the 911 call after a woman reportedly attempted to murder an 8-year-old boy.
In the call, you can hear the man tell the operator in Spanish, "A boy has head injures. I found him crying in the street but he doesn't understand Spanish and I don't know what to do."
The operator then speaks to the boy in English, who appears to be very upset as he describes the situation.
WARNING: The call may be considered difficult to listen to. Boy starts to speak 1 minute and 12 seconds into the recording.
Police say 26-year-old Helen Marie Newsome walked into a bedroom where a young boy was sleeping, grabbed a pillow and placed it over the boy's face. Police say Newsome then began striking him in the head with a weapon.
The boy was able to run away but suffered head injuries. He was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
The young boy is said to be the son of Newsome's ex-boyfriend.
Newsome is charged with first degree attempted murder, and is being held on a $500,000 bond, say police.
