New York, NY (Sports Network) - Major League Soccer announced Friday that D.C.
United striker Dwayne De Rosario has been suspended for two games and fined an
undisclosed amount for violent conduct that endangered the safety of his
opponent, Philadelphia Union midfielder Danny Cruz, during a preseason game
between the two clubs on February 23.
The MLS Players Union appealed the decision on behalf of De Rosario, but MLS
Commissioner Don Garber upheld the punishment.
De Rosario will sit out United's opener against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday
as well as the club's second match of the season when it hosts Real Salt Lake
on March 9.
