New York, NY (Sports Network) - NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHL deputy
commissioner Bill Daly met with NHL Player's Association executive director
Donald Fehr and Special Counsel Steve Fehr in Toronto on Friday.
It was an unannounced meeting and it came just one day after the NHL canceled
the first two weeks of the regular season, a total of 82 games.
Neither side announced what was discussed at the meeting, but several sources
said the NHL urged the NHLPA to come up with a new offer while the NHLPA asked
the same of the NHL.
"Yes we had a meeting," Daly said Friday afternoon. "Nothing else to report at
this time."
The owners locked out the players when the previous Collective Bargaining
Agreement expired at 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 15.
