Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees have claimed right-handed
pitcher Jim Miller off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.
In 33 relief appearances, the 30-year-old went 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA over four
stints with the Athletics in 2012. He allowed just 14 earned runs in 48.2
innings pitched.
While with the team, Miller held opposing batters to a .217 average, and was
exceptionally good against lefties. In 81 official at-bats, only 11 left-
handers got hits off Miller.
