Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - EUROPEAN TOUR - ALFRED DUNHILL
CHAMPIONSHIP, Leopard Creek Country Club, Malelane, South Africa - The Alfred
Dunhill Championship returns after a year off the schedule.
Garth Mulroy won the title when the event was last played in November 2011.
Mulroy closed with a 68 to fend off George Murray, who shot 67 in the final
round.
The event is co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour. Mulroy won the 2011 Order
of Merit on that tour thanks in part to his win at the Leopard Creek, and his
top-10 finish the following week.
That was the end of the 2010-11 schedule and this tournament was played twice
that season. The first time around, Pablo Martin won by two strokes over three
players.
Two homegrown major champions will headline the field this week. South
Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel are both competing. Schwartzel
is coming off a commanding 11-stroke win last week in Thailand.
Last week's winner, Scott Jamieson, and Branden Grace, who won four times last
year on the European Tour, are also in the field this week.
Golf Channel will have early morning coverage of all four rounds.
The European Tour will return to action January 10th with the Volvo Golf
Champions, where Grace beat Retief Goosen and Ernie Els in a playoff last
year.
