Stockton, CA (Sports Network) - Sama Taku scored a game-high 15 points as the
Pacific Tigers defeated the UC Irvine Anteaters, 70-62, in a Big West
Conference tilt at the Spanos Center.
Lorenzo McCloud contributed 14 points for the Tigers (18-12, 12-5 Big West).
Tony Gill recorded 10 points and seven boards off the bench as Pacific moved
to a three-game winning streak.
For the Anteaters (17-14, 10-7), Alex Young had a team-high 13 points and
seven rebounds. Will Davis II added 12 points and six boards as UCI had a
five-game winning streak snapped.
In the first half, UCI was held to a mere 7-of-26 from the floor. Pacific
knocked down 16-of-33 field goals including 5-of-8 beyond the arc, en route to
the 39-19 advantage at the break.
In the second, UCI improved it's shooting dramatically making 16-of-34 from
the floor. Pacific was held to 6-of-20 on field goal tries, but made 19-of-28
free-throw attempts as it took the eight-point victory.
Pacific had 15 more free-throw attempts than the Anteaters and held them to
a 3-of-23 effort from beyond the arc.
