Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Eric Stutz hung up a double-double with 22
points and 10 rebounds as the third-seeded Eastern Kentucky Colonels eased by
the sixth-seeded Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, 84-69, in the
quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Municipal
Auditorium.
Orlando Williams scored 14 points off the bench. Corey Walden added 12 points
and Mike DiNunno had 10 points for Eastern Kentucky (24-8) which will take on
No. 2 seed Murray State in the conference semifinals.
Nino Johnson had 18 points, Tyler Stone registered 14 and Nick Niemczyk and
Marland Smith tallied 12 apiece for SEMO (17-16).
Though they shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes the
Colonels led 39-331 at the break by nailing 15-of-19 shots from the free-throw
line.
Eastern Kentucky continued to get to the line in the second half when it got
22 points from the charity stripe while shooting 45.8 percent from the field
overall.
The Redhawks connected on just 39.1 percent of their shots from the field and
were outrebounded, 41-34.
