Tallahassee, FL (Sports Network) - Michael Snaer nailed a runner with four
seconds remaining to lift the Florida State Seminoles over the Virginia
Cavaliers, 53-51, in an Atlantic Coast Conference thriller at the Donald L.
Tucker Center.
Snaer scored 14 points for the Seminoles (16-14, 8-9 ACC). Okaro White
recorded a game-high 17 points and Kiel Turpin added 11 points.
For the Cavaliers (20-10, 10-7), Akil Mitchell recorded a double-double with
15 points and 12 rebounds. Joe Harris chipped in 13 points and Mike Tobey
contributed 12 points as Virginia lost its second straight.
Both teams made 11 shots from the floor in the first half. Virginia was
1-of-4 from long-range with no free throws. FSU was 2-of-5 beyond the arc
and a perfect 2-of-2 from the foul-line, en route to the 26-23 advantage at
the break.
In the second half, Virginia fought back from an 11-point deficit and took
the lead 51-50 with 01:28 left thanks to a pair of Harris free-throws. However
Snaer nailed his fourth game-winning shot in ACC play this season to allow the
Seminoles to escape.
Virginia was held to 2-of-14 beyond the arc, while FSU made 47.7 percent from
the floor and 4-of-9 from long-range on the night.
